Welcome to the 2008 riding season!
We know some of you never quit riding, you're all weather
riders, but some, well it takes a little spring sunshine to
bring you off that couch. And sun's what's
a coming. This
Saturday and Sunday, James says it's going to be nice. Time to get on out and
ride. Time to see
what's new at your favorite country club, time to see what's
new at 29 Dreams.
Starting this week, we're offering
a new monthly dinner special. This week's menu, Fried
Catfish, Fried Shrimp, and fall off the bone ribs. The kind of ribs you
rarely get to really enjoy, really taste, the kind you indulge
in, the kind you get on your face and everywhere else
too. Sweet BBQ,
fall off the bone ribs.
Man I like this time of year. Spring is almost here
and summer's right around the corner!
The new website's online. We're still testing
the new Internet based reservation software, and we need to
add more pictures to the website, but it's looking
better.
Kudo's goes to our new software provider www.campgroundmanager.com Good ole Peter Kerns.
Next month look
for an easier way to make overnight reservations at 29
Dreams.
Speaking of reservations and
camping, we're currently taking verbal reservations for the
2008 season.
We're pretty full for the Superbike races at Barbers
and the Barbers Vintage Event is pretty much sold out as
well. For some of
you, we've been slow as molasses confirming your reservations,
but it's purely due to the new reservation software we're
trying to master.
Hey we stuffed staff vacation, physical inventory,
normal annual maintenance, and some new construction into
three weeks. And
it was three weeks during the holidays. Here's some more good
news, this year we're not planning on closing at the end of
the season. We'll remain open
year round and offer overnight camping seven days a week. 29 Dreams is reaching
for a whole new level of success. We're making
improvements and changing the way we do business, all for the
better. We're
becoming a living breathing bona-fide business you can
frequent year round. A true proven
business model offering all motorcycle enthusiasts a more
comfortable and enjoyable, total experience.
Come on out in your vehicles! The "Member's Car
Corral," finally finished. At least the first
phase of the Corral's finished. The vehicle parking
lot will hold around 20 to 25 vehicles without any real
noticeable stress on the drivers. Yes, there is such a
thing, just think about what happens when there's too many
bulls in one pen, ah, the things you learn in small
business.
It's almost time to mail out spring
and summer membership renewal reminders and one way you as a
member can help us reduce cost is by going on ahead and
renewing your membership today. Why wait? Just drop us a line
with your membership number and any change of address
information, and we'll get your new membership card right on
out to you.
You'll be ready to go for 2008 and membership postage
and printing cost will stay in budget. We can also renew your
membership via email.
Just send an email to, betty@29dreams.com please include
your membership number and daytime telephone.
Some members might not know but 29
Dreams was built by members of 29 Dreams. This place rose up
from an overgrown pasture, littered with pickup trucks,
riddled with bullet holes. An old black school
bus, with a white number three, proudly painted on the rear
panel rested where the swings are located. 29's been around since
September 2000.
Can you believe it? Man how we've
grown! May 26,
2001 was our first event with a live band in the lodge. Welcome to year
eight! Do you
remember when Barbers Motorsports Park was being considered as
a possible project for the Birmingham area? Now Barbers
Motorsports Park's thriving and expanding in every
capacity.
This area of Alabama is becoming a real destination for
motorcycle enthusiasts.
Could GP racing be in Birmingham's future? What a wonderful and
exciting time to live in Birmingham!
It's still early spring and the
weather will be hit and miss for the next month. So, 29 Dreams is
offering some new afternoon specials to encourage members to
slow their lives down a little and visit 29 to see all the new
changes.
We're open Wednesday though Sunday and starting this
Wednesday we'll be offering $0.10 wings, hot, bbq, mild, ranch
including a $2.00 domestic beer special from 2:00 PM until
6:00 PM.
We'll be doing the same thing on Thursday's except the
menu will be chips and salsa with a perfect margarita for
$3.00.
At 29 Dreams another dream is
coming true, a dream that includes Recreational Vehicles. That's right; we're
developing sites so we can support members visiting in
Recreational Vehicles.
Recreational Vehicles provide more comfort, and
visiting in comfort makes for a more enjoyable
experience. When
we talk of comfort, we're meaning comfort as far as a little
more comfort than say a tent site or cabin can offer. We're planning to
build 45 spots for Recreational Vehicle parking; and we're
going to start with 15 right away. Hopefully clearing of
the property will be completed by the end of this week. We want to offer more
to our members, more services and more organized events. We want to bring
more comfort and more enjoyment to your total riding
experience.
We're going to focus resources in
the direction of a new year round operational, professionally
managed, private country club for the motorcycle
enthusiast. And
including Recreational Vehicles is part of the dream. RV's will have hookups,
water, septic, electricity, etc. These changes also
bring changes in the way 29 Dreams manages Alcohol for
registered overnight guest. Registered overnight
guest will be able to bring their own alcohol or purchase
carry out alcohol from 29 Dreams for consumption in the park
as long as the alcohol is consumed behind the green gate or
fence where register guest are staying overnight. We've acquired an
additional liquor license. Please drink
responsibly and remember we have not changed the Main Lodge
Alcohol Policy.
We still function as a restaurant between the main
entrance white gate and the register guest only green
gate. It's going
to take some time to get these changes in place, get the RV
sites and construction finished, but we're starting
immediately. Look
for a new online map of the park, new trails, dinner menus,
and of course, the 2008 schedule of events at www.29dreams.com
Is your bike ready for the spring
or does your bike need service? Give your members
service department a call today. We really do provide
the absolute best service, bar none. We provide service for
all types of bikes.
We're open Wednesday through Sunday (205) 672-0309;
we'll get you in and get you out as quickly as possible,
sometimes the same day.
Summer's coming brother, let's get that ride in
shape!
Again, this Friday and Saturday
night, it's time for dinner. Time for some Fried
Catfish, Fried Shrimp and some kick butt bbq ribs. Come on out, bring the
family and friends.
James say's it's going to be in the 60's and the sun
should be perfect.
We hope you're proud of the
changes. We've
worked hard to expand and still provide good service. We want to continue to
bring more value to your membership. We will continue to
invest and continue to grow your personal country club. A country club where
you can socialize and relax with other like minded, motorcycle
enthusiasts!
Ride Safe,
The Staff at
