Let's go Riding!
The 29 Dreams Newsletter
  August 15, 2008
Hello Riders!

Thanks for signing up for the 29 Dreams Newsletter.  We wish these newsletters were more frequent, but there is never enough time in a day.  Today, we’re making time, and we appreciate you reading this newsletter and staying informed with the happenings of 29 Dreams Motorcycle Resort.
Elections are coming up, fuel’s still as high as a kite, and everyone’s still pinchin pennies…  Today there’s plenty to think about for sure.  How about this, let’s do the opposite of what you have planned today.  Figure out next weeks schedule tomorrow, today, let’s go for a ride!  Riding your bike really does make sense or saves cents, pick one and go with it.  We don’t care how you justify it; just ride on out here brother!  Here’s what’s happening!

Where's all the motorcycle based businesses?
As you probably would imagine we monitor motorcycle based businesses and man it seems like more and more motorcycle based businesses are disappearing right when motorcycle based businesses should be booming.  Motorcycle Stuff’s filed for bankruptcy protection, Bessie’s Cycle Barn is gone, Pell City Power Sports is gone, Back Roads Motorcycle Repairs is gone, MTO in Branchville doesn’t have a mechanic anymore, at 29 we’re cutting back a little bit too.  That’s right, with service business slowing down across the board, we’re cutting back on the repair facility hours.  We’re mainly going to work by appointment, Wednesday’s through Friday’s.  If you find yourself needing an oil change or a new set of tires, give the shop a call and we’ll get you on the schedule.  Remember, the shop is a membership perk.  Use it and save some cash.

Spending your membership dollars

In our last newsletter we mentioned we’ve taken some membership dollars and installed ceiling fans and water misters in the Courtyard Tavern.  We’ve also built a new mini stage and changed our weekend music to be more acoustic based than big band main stage based. Please allow us to say, this decision has been more than a good decision, this decision has proved to be a great decision.   Acoustical music in the Courtyard is the way to go.  You can still have a conversation with your friends, and listen to good music. Our website’s been updated; click here to check out the current Calendar of Events.  This includes our schedules for music including our special dinners in the Courtyard Tavern.

A State of Mind

We all work too hard for sure. Here at 29, we put that front and center in everything we do.  It is the heart and sole of our “State of Mind,” tag line.  Slowing down is important and slowing down begins with you.

We love working at 29 Dreams, we enjoy every aspect of it, but sometimes the hours can be long and days just seem to vanish.  Last week we were reminded of something equally as important as work, family.   Don’t forget the family.  By doing something as simple as having a planned dinner together once a week, you can build your family relationships and improve your State of Mind.  You only go around once, make it count.  Bring mom or dad out for breakfast one morning.   Shoot, bring them both, we have car parking.  Take the time.  You’ll be glad you did.

Our fall calendar of events is finally on the website.  The band schedules and dinner schedules are all updated. We’ve started booking camping reservations for selected fall dates already.  If touring the hills and experiencing the leaves changing colors is something you’re considering, now’s a good time to make that commitment.  Get your name in the hat, we sell out quickly during the fall season.

Last but not least the new RV section of the park and memberships.  We’re actively working on the new RV section of the park.  We make progress everyday.  However given the state of our economy, realistically it will be spring 2009 before we can say we’ll have the initial RV area finished and ready for member use.  On memberships, we’ve had a little bad luck with our membership cards.  The 29 Dreams marquee on the actual cards faded to the point of disappearance.  We’ve since corrected the problem and mailed replacement cards.  So, if you’re wondering why you might have received up to three cards over the period of two months.  There you have it.  If you will, please destroy the old faded membership cards.   If you did not receive your membership card and you’ve renewed your membership, please send an email to betty@29dreams.com.  We’ll get it straighten out post haste.   If you’re needing to get your membership renewed, you can mail your membership number and dues to:  Memberships, Post Office Box 29, Vandiver, Alabama  35176.  We are planning on sending out reminders next month.  This is your chance to not only get ahead of the mailing, but help us save money on postage to boot!

One last item on the update… Overall we’ve finished with the general look and feel of 29 Dreams.  We hope you like the setting and we hope you like the environment we’ve created.  If don’t please tell us tim@29dreams.com, if you do, please tell a friend.

Ride Safe,
